After the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959, the 28 monks from the Pelsa-ngo-tsar from Sakya monastic institution came into exile in Bagsa, India. Under the kind guidance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, His Eminence SakyaGongma Rinpoche, His Eminence NgorLudingkhen Rinpoche and the Exile government, this monastery was inaugurated in 1969 in the state of Karnataka, South India.
During the early years, the monks were sent to the Indian government school but few years later, the monastery established its own school imparting both modern education and monastic education to fulfill the student’s desire. Then in 1994, as per the request from the monastery, His Eminence SakyaGongma Rinpoche enthroned the His Eminence Jamyang Tenzin Rinpoche as the monastic abbot and institutionalised following primarily the Gorampa’s tradition and teaching DragchenChogye or the Kapoedruk for 15 years.
Numbers of abbots, masters, principals and teachers who are seen working heartedly everywhere for the welfare of others are nurtured during the time under his kind teachings. At present, there are total of 205 monks comprising the school, college and monastery who are currently practicing the union of both Sutra and Tantra in the midst of quite sufficient facility.
